What a bitter disappointment for the team and Forum as a whole.
The pre-match preparation has to be looked at more carefully. No time was left to organize lineouts or run through some moves.
From the start of the game Mifi put us under pressure and even though their backs dropped so much ball they looked the better organised team. Our response to the pressure was panic, loosing sight of basic rugby skills. The forwards need a pack leader to step up and organise their play. Rarely did we put into the game what we trained, support, offload and pick and go.
Our backs lacked any cutting edge and looked lost as to what to do with the ball. I know we are better than this, I know we can play better than this.
Under pressure we should have changed the way we played by slowing the ball down at the rucks and using the forwards to retain possession. These ‘in game’ decisions must come from the captain who will drive and lift the team forward as well as deciding team actions and I am shocked at our captains attitude and lack of willingness to help command the team. I really hope the captain can take a more positive role and lead by example as I am sure he can, as I am sure the team needs him to do.
We played a good hard game against Tushino and done a lot of things well so we know we can play good rugby so lets go forward and to continue to improve on all aspects of our game.
